My Big Idea.

So, I've been without internet for a bit. Possible Swine Flu has left me a bit tired. But I'm not without an idea.

Last year I looked at a new way of expressing emotions; by advertising them. This year, I want to continue with a similar theme, but covering a broader spectrum.

'Necesity is the mother of invention' is one of my favourite quotes, and if this is true, most things that we need have already been invented. Therefore this year, I feel the need to re-invent the wheel.

So I'm focussing on the causes of human interaction; What causes a laugh, what causes a smile, what causes conversation? Then, I'm going to invent new causes.

Firstly, I've started looking at the causes of conversation... The weather seems to be a great conversation starter... 'nice whether eh?' 'not really.'

But that's too simple. So I've been thinking of a complicated method of creating conversation...My idea includes:

The ingredients:
100 x copies of the same CD entitled 'one free CD'
100 x unique album covers (one for each)
100 x toilet cubicles (found in all of the service stations on the M1)
100 x individual letters enclosed with each CD.
1 x video camera
1 x car

I'm going to be leaving a number of copies of each CD in various toilet cubicles on the M1. Enclosed is an email address, and a postal address. People who pick up a CD are asked kindly to send me something in return. Anything.
Then, in true Keith Arnatt style (he's somewhat of a genius) i'm photographing the responses and they'll become part of my exhibition.



I realise that I'm probably not going to get many responses, so I will be using other mad methods and also filming to document each one.


It's early days with all this, but will keep posted, as and when I have internet connection.
